A highly popular media, enterprise and literary skills programme.

Moviemaker is developed specifically to support Speaking and Listening - 20% of the GCSE grade. Moviemaker is a sensational programme that engages, educates and entertains. In this exhilarating and action-packed day students run their own film production company. From script development, through to editing and marketing, the students use their imaginations and creativity to complete a finished film. A guaranteed hit!

Learning points
For students to:

  • Actively develop their skills in creativity, communication and presentation
  • Build confidence to apply enterprise learning to other subjects in the curriculum
  • Produce quality work both as individuals and as part of a team

How It Works

There's a deadline to meet and the clock's ticking!

Working in teams of eight, students complete structured tasks including writing their own scripts, creating and developing character profiles and producing storyboards. Finally, they make their own movie trailer and prepare for the nail-biting presentation to the judges. The climax of the programme comes with the students producing and hosting their very own Oscar Ceremony. The winners are entered into our valuable prize draw!

The day is led by CragRats tutors. The teacher’s role is to act as a facilitator. You don’t need to be a film buff or business expert to take part, and you’ll also have some fun! On successful completion and for a small additional fee, students receive a certificate accredited by City & Guilds.
