Gloucestershire Road Safety Statistics

- In 2010, 87 people were killed or seriously injured as car occupants on Gloucestershire’s roads. A quarter of these drivers & passengers were aged between 15 & 24.
- Over the last 3 years there was a 39% decline in car occupant casualties for all ages. For those aged between 15 & 24 that decline was not as sharp, at just 34% over the same period.
Findings and feedback from students following a theatre tour showed:
- 87% felt the production made them want to take action to protect themselves when travelling in a car.
- 93% thought the production convinced them to wear a seatbelt at all times, even in the back.
- 89% are now convinced, as car passengers, that their behaviour can seriously affect the driver’s behaviour.
- 83% of students now feel confident enough to tell the driver to slow down.
